Member, Delta State Board of Management,
Federal Medical Center, Keffi, Nasarawa State,
Dr Ebenega Okorodudu has asked states and
federal governments to immortalize the late
Senator Pius Akpor Ewherido, immediate past
senator representing Delta Central Senatorial
District at the nation’s upper legislative
chamber, as well as ensure the speedy release
of former Governor of the State, Chief James
Ibori, from London prison.
Addressing Journalists , Dr. Okorodudu
submitted that the late Senator has affected
the lives of the people of the nation, the state
and particularly, Delta Central Senatorial
District through provision of social activities,
scholarship awards, human capital
development, infras-tructural development and
through study and advancement of his native
Urhobo, within the brief period he was in the
Senate, while Chief Ibori has contributed in no
small measure towards the realization of the
13 percent derivation which is now being
enjoyed across the Niger Delta region.
He added that such good gestures should not
be swept under the carpet. Dr Okorodudu who
implored the Federal and States governments
to fast -track a means of releasing the former
governor from the British custody where he is
currently serving a jail term for offences
bordering on money laundering, said the ex-
governor is only a human being who can err,
but if after owning up and apologizing to his
people and the nation, he should have been
given a
very minimum sentence.
