Lionel Messi scored thrice on Sunday while Luiz Suarez got a brace as Barcelona hammered Rayo Vallecano 6-1 to move top of the La Liga table ahead of Real Madrid for the first time since October 31, 2014.

Messi is now level with Real's Christiano Ronaldo on number of goals scored in the Spanish league.
